An Edinburgh city centre café on Princes Street has confirmed it will close permanently, marking another blow to the high street.

The high street favorite is well-known for its reasonably priced apparel, accessories, and shoes.

According to The Mirror, a few of the in-store restaurants scattered among the well-known stores are now planning to permanently close. Based on the size and location of each store, four locations including the Edinburgh store have been designated for closure.

According to the Express, the revelation surfaced when a social media video purportedly showed Primark café employees facing layoffs.

The description for the brief video, which features three employees serving behind the bar and cleaning tables at a Primark cafe, reads,

“Us because we are getting made redundant and will never see each other again.” “RIP Primark Cafe.”

However, Primark has clarified no employees are currently impacted due to these closures. A company spokesperson said:

“We know how important our stores are to our customers and we’re constantly reviewing them to ensure we provide the best shopping experience.”

They went on:

“As we’ve expanded our own product offering, we are adapting our spaces so that each store is best set up to cater to local customer preferences.”

“As part of this, we have been reviewing our in-store concessions and considering how we maximise and best use the space we have in our stores.

Over the next 12 months customers will start to see the closure of some concessions. These decisions are being informed by the size and location of each store.”

Primark cafes at Glasgow’s Braehead shopping center, Edinburgh’s Princes Street, Birmingham High Street, and Belfast’s Royal Avenue will all be closing, according to the high street behemoth.

From Lilo and Stitch and Hello Kitty to The Simpsons and Stranger Things, the cafes are well-known for their entertaining themed experiences that feature theme-inspired cuisine and beverages.

The spokesperson added:

“As this will be managed over the next 12 months and beyond, no Primark colleagues are currently impacted.

However, we appreciate it may impact some of our partners and we’re committed to managing this process with care and transparency, supporting them throughout.”

Are other Edinburgh stores affected by Primark’s concession changes?

Primark verified closures only impact the Princes Street store’s cafe in Edinburgh, with no other megacity locales mentioned amid the UK-wide reconfiguration of in- store concessions.

The four affected cafes comprise Glasgow Braehead, Edinburgh Princes Street, Birmingham High Street, and Belfast Royal Avenue opinions driven by store size and position viability rather than invariant policy. Edinburgh’s Fort Kinnaird or other outlets retain dining options, as Primark evaluates space optimisation collectively.

Primark invests in non-cafe concessions like quaint apparel hookups( Glasgow Argyle Street) and themed pop- ups, conserving food immolations at larger spots. Princes Street’s upstairs cafe, popular for Foreigner effects and Hello Kitty themes, transitions to expanded vesture zones over the coming time without staff redundancies.
